In 1955, with her husband Agustin and children "Mamacita"
migrated to Lorain Ohio. As she shopped through the grocery stores
she could not find anything that came close to her original sofrito
recipe. Having no acces to the fresh herbs and spices as she was
accustomed to, she decided to create her own version of sofrito
"Mamacita" style.
With her family still living in Puerto Rico, they would send her the wild herbs from the mountains that she needed to complete her original recipe.
It all began when "Mamacita" came to visit me in Miami. I had no sofrito for cooking so my mom and I decided to make a batch. After sampling our master blend we decided that this is something we need to share with the world. That's when my mom said, " You can have my recipe", and thus "Sofrito Rico" was born "Mamacita Style".

Esthervina "Mamacita" was born in Barceloneta Puerto Rico in 1929. As a young girl she would cook with her mother using the sofrito they made from scratch for that days meal. They would harvest fresh herbs that grew wild in the nearby mountains, combining them with vegetables and spices from the garden to create their very own original recipe.
